  Medical Interpretation


  • Medical interpretation is a challenging profession requiring industry specific training and cultural competence. The Spanish Action League is the only fully bilingual and bi-cultural agency that has been serving the needs of the community for more than 40 years.

  • All of our medical interpreters have received certificates and are able to provide accurate and confidential interpretation in a variety of medical visits, exams, surgical procedures, and emergencies.

  • The Spanish Action League is a member of:

           The National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)                American Translator  Association (ATA)

           Health Connection Support (HCS)

           International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) 

40-hours bilingual Medical and Mental Health Interpreting
  • We offer a 80- hour bilingual Medical and Mental health interpreting course twice a year. Students learn aspects of professionalism, the Code of Ethics and the standards practice as well as body systems and culture. Upon finishing the course, trained interpreters can interpret for pay at local hospital and doctor offices.

  • Candidates need to be: bilingual and have a high school diploma or GED as well as basic knowledge of anatomy.
